The CEDRA Corporation is pleased to announce the release of
the CEDRA-AGSTools software which
is a collection of VB.NET software procedures designed for incorporation
into new and existing ArcGIS Server Web Applications. Recognizing
the growing interest of users to create Web based applications,
the CEDRA-AGSTools software provides users the ability to incorporate
specialized Viewing, Buffering, Exporting and Data Management
tools into their Web based applications. Distributed in source
code form, users are able to use the software as is or customize
the software to meet their specific requirements. Included with
the software is a 1 year support plan that provides users assistance
in the installation of the software, minor customization and software
updates. Those interested in learning how the CEDRA-AGSTools software
is incorporated into an existing ArcGIS Server Web Application
should check out the August 2009 issue
of Command of the Month.
Since the software is distributed in source code form, users are
able to see exactly how the software is structured and make any
desired modifications. The inline documentation provides an excellent
means for users to learn how to use the ArcGIS Web ADF in developing
ArcGIS Server Web Applications. The techniques shown in the code
can then be applied to develop other custom tools. User will also
realize that the license fee for the CEDRA-AGSTools software is
far less than the cost to hire a consultant to develop all of
the tools included in the CEDRA-AGSTools software. Additionally,
there is no limit to the number of users that can access the tools
within the CEDRA-AGSTools tools and there are no royalty fees
if the CEDRA-AGSTools software is used to develop other ArcGIS
Server tools.
To better serve its client base, The CEDRA Corporation, starting in December 2006, is offering a number of web based training classes. Utilizing the latest web based interactive meeting technology, the CEDRA-Web Training program enables new and advanced CEDRA users to attend authorized CEDRA training classes at the comfort of their desk. No travel and/or overnight hotel stays are required, but rather, students get the full benefit of a formal or a customized training class directly from within their office.
CEDRA's on-line training courses are comprised of lectures
and exercises, with a strong emphasis on demonstrating the use
and application of the tools provided by the appropriate CEDRA
software. Training classes are specifically designed to encourage
student participation so that students are able to get answers
to questions right on the spot.
Utilizing demonstration data and/or students data, qualified
instructors guide the student through structured exercises to
help develop confidence using the applicable CEDRA software. Training
classes are available for all of CEDRA's ArcView® GIS and
ArcGIS® based products, as well as, the Avenue Wraps publication.
In addition, customized training classes are available for those
users who wish to have training on specific CEDRA functionality.
The CEDRA-Web Training program
was designed to: (a) get new users started in the right direction
as to how to use and implement CEDRA software and (b) educate
experienced users in getting the most out of the CEDRA software
which they are using.
The standard courses offered in the CEDRA-Web Training program
provide core knowledge in the use of CEDRA software, while the
customized training courses, in conjunction with client data,
provide experienced users valuable information in becoming more
proficient with CEDRA software. As a matter of fact, one could
consider the customized training courses as an on-line consulting
service.
To better serve its client base, The CEDRA Corporation, starting
in January 2005, will be issuing on a monthly basis a publication
titled the Command of The Month Bulletin.
The Command of the Month Bulletin is e-mailed to our users and
posted on our home page in the form of a .pdf file. Links to the
various issues and a brief description of each issue, published
to date, are available below. The objective of this publication
is many-fold and includes the following:
Inform users of new features introduced to the CEDRA-AVseries
suite of software,
Describe in detail certain commands which are felt of being
of special interest to the general user community,
Educate our users as to the full capabilities of our software,
Present solutions to problems and special application conditions
encountered by users, and/or
Provide for a means of receiving from our users, requests
for new additions, modifications and improvements to our software.
The CEDRA Corporation is pleased to announce the release of the Second Edition of Avenue WrapsTM. ISBN 0-9722631-0-1. A new publication comprised of 608 pages, Avenue Wraps offers detailed information describing the process of how Avenue code can be converted into Visual Basic® or Visual Basic for Applications code under the ArcGIS 8.x or ArcGIS 9.x platforms. The second edition of Avenue Wraps contains 73 new "wraparounds", support for personal geodatabase manipulation and compatability with the ArcGIS 9.x ArcObjects environment. More than 300 of the most popular Avenue requests are presented in the second edition of Avenue Wraps. A complete list of the available "wraparounds" is presented in the Table of Contents listing shown below.
No searching through the ArcObjects Developer Help, no scratching your head as to how to convert GetFTab into the appropriate ArcObjectsTM Property, or how to get the Legend for a Theme.
CEDRA Avenue Wraps has been there, done that, and is ready for you to use.
Discussing general Avenue to VB/VBA syntax differences, Views, Themes, Tables, Selection Sets, Graphic Elements, Querying, Calculating, File I/O operations, Message Boxes, User-Document interaction, Manipulation of Feature Shapes, Legends, Classifications and Application deployment, CEDRA Avenue Wraps contains numerous samples that will cut your conversion effort by more than 70%. CEDRA Avenue Wraps offers Avenue developers a one-to-one mapping between Avenue requests and AvenueWraps "wraparounds". In addition, to being used to convert existing applications, CEDRA Avenue Wraps can be used to develop new applications using an Avenue programming style. Why learn ArcObjects when CEDRA Avenue Wraps provides the one-to-one mapping between Avenue requests and their ArcObjects counter-parts.
Don't leave your Avenue applications behind, use CEDRA Avenue Wraps and migrate your applications to ArcGISTM.
Not in the mood to retype scripts, ELECTRONIC MEDIA (CD) is available containing CEDRA Avenue Wraps for both the ArcGIS 8.x and 9.x environments as a Dynamically Linked Library (.dll). For either ArcGIS 8.x or 9.x, CEDRA Avenue Wraps is immediately available for Avenue programmers to begin converting their applications.
CEDRA-AVlandTM
for ArcGISTM is a software package,
which includes and expands upon CEDRA AVcadTM, to provide the engineer functionality
to perform surveying, COGO, contouring, traverse adjustments,
stakeout, road design, earthwork, tax mapping and site modeling
applications in an environment that integrates Civil Engineering
and GIS. A comprehensive suite of geometric, analytical, drafting
and design commands, CEDRA AVland offers the engineer the ability
to take a project from field collection through design, construction
and facility maintenance.
Ideal for Civil Engineers, be they municipal engineers or private
consultants, CEDRA-AVland for ArcGIS is a product that truly integrates
GIS and engineering.
CEDRA DataEditorTM
is an ArcView® GIS extension that is included with all of
the CEDRA AVseriesTM software
and utilizes a customized dialog box enabling the user to edit
and maintain data, which is associated with features in a shapefile.
The CEDRA DataEditor extension provides the user the ability to
create a customized dialog box with user-specified labels and
default values, with absolutely no programming, for any desired
theme. The user simply creates an ASCII based file containing
the pertinent information for those attributes in a shapefile
that can be edited, from which, the CEDRA DataEditor extension
builds the customized dialog box. This is an ideal tool for those
involved with facility maintenance and/or data capture applications
or those who simply wish to enhance ArcView's native table editing
functionality. Imagine being able to select a value for an attribute
from a pull-down list, rather than having to explicity type the
value, or have built in verification that a numerical value for
an attribute falls within a valid numerical range. This type of
data maintenance functionality is provided by the CEDRA DataEditor
extension.
CEDRA-GridAQuadrilateralTM enables the user to subdivide quadrilaterals
by specifying the number of rows and columns that are desired.
This is an ideal tool for those involved with quarter-quarter
sections or Aliquot parts.

The [Text or Attribute] command
enables the user to create text for the value(s) that are associated
with a field or multiple fields in a single operation. For example,
in the figure shown below it is desired to annotate or create
text representing the name of a city, the number of females and
males within the city and the city's population. The [Text or
Attribute] command offers the user the ability to specify the
field or fields that should be processed as well as the ability
to control the "look" of the text that is created.
